Traditional ways of manufacturing dentures are fast becoming a thing of the past, as the denture industry moves into the digital world. Digital dentures is the future technology, offering unparalleled advantages when compared to conventional dentures.
Digital dentures involves using computer aided technology( also known as CAD) to program your denture design, followed by your denture being manufactured on state of the art machinery. The final product can be made by either being “milled” or 3d printed depending on the clients preference, finances and needs.
They offer the highest quality of accuracy, strength, occlusion and aesthetics.
Our clinic predominately uses “Milled dentures” for our digital denture needs as we always strive to provide our patients with the best on the market.
For a milled denture, a solid block of perfectly manufactured very hard resin (called PMMA) is precisely cut by our onsite milling machine to create your denture. The PMMA materials on the market are up to 8 times stronger than traditional denture materials, and the digital process helps us offer our patients unparalleled accuracy, which results in dentures that are far superior to traditional dentures in a variety of ways.
The standout benefit of any digital denture is patient comfort. Since moving away from the traditional methods, our patients feedback has been how much more comfortable the digital dentures are, compared to their old sets. We often find patients usually need little to no adjustments after receiving their new dentures, and has eliminated the need for multiple visits to keep adjusting any sore spots. Digital denturres usually can be made thinner than traditional, due to the strength of the material being milled, which usually results in a more comfortable and natural looking dentures. They also minimise any human error in production which means you have a far superior product.
The materials involved in producing your digital denture have significantly higher flexural strength values than traditional acrylics, and can withstand more pressure and daily wear and tear. This is because they are pre-manufactured discs which are made under stringent conditions to produce a far better denture for the patient in terms of strength and hygiene.
Do you need dentures in a hurry or have you recently lost your denture? We can get you back and smiling again with exceptionally fast turnaround times.
Digital dentures can be turned around relatively quickly and sometimes within a matter of days. The process usually only requires a few appointments when compared to the traditional 5-7 appointments needed when creating a conventional denture. We also find very few patients require adjustments once they have walked out the door.
Another significant advantage is the improved accuracy and fit of a denture. Going digital means we can capture the records far more accurately and eliminate any errors in the manufacturing process which is usually unavoidable with conventional dentures. In the past, we had to battle shrinkage of plaster moulds, and thermal shrinkage or warping of the acrylic in the process.. By scanning your impression directly into our software, it means your denture is created as precisely as possible for the most accurate fit.
Our sophisticated computer program also takes out the guess work of where to place the teeth. This means we are usually able to place the teeth exactly where they once were in your mouth, which in turn leads to far more comfortable and natural feeling dentures.
Since a digital file is created, when digital dentures are fabricated, they can be easily replaced in a short amount of time.Traditionally, if a patient loses or damages their dentures, they would have to go through the process of getting impressions re-done; this would end up taking the same amount of time as it would for a new pair to be done. We always keep your digital file on record should you ever lose your denture, it can be replaced very quickly with no initial appointments required. If you would like a spare set of dentures made, we can also offer them at a greatly discounted fee.

Gone are the days where you only have the option of a metal framework or an acrylic partial. We now have the ability to mill partial frameworks out of a variety of materials such as Acetal and Ultaire AKP, which are types of polymers with superb qualities. Each polymer is slightly different in use, and depending on your remaining teeth we can design the one that is best suited to you. Many of these polymers have been used in dentistry for over 30 years in other ways of manufacturing, however now they come in millable forms which eliminate many issues, and mean we can now utilise them in partial frameworks for our patients.
The high performance polymers on the market today offer our patients far superior products than traditional acrylic dentures. While metal chrome dentures are still a wonderful product, it is these polymers that are really changing the game for many of our partial denture wearers. While Metal dentures are great, they do have their downsides for many patients, as they are heavy, can taste metallic, and can be difficult to add more teeth. The metal clips are often visible and can sometimes be damaging to teeth.
As with our full dentures, partial dentures are digitally produced for incredible accuracy and fit, and milled on our milling machine to produce a final result that has outstanding comfort and qualities
Here are some of the benefits of choosing a polymer framework.
